Australia's coastline is home to over 350 lighthouses which have been built over the past 200 years. Their design is the same and yet delightfullyvaried. Here is a selection of Australia's lighthouses over 24 meters high. Four wonderful Australia Antartica Territory stamps. Thanks to Heather of Australia. Sent June 15, 2011 and reached Penang on June 22, 2011. A great addition to my postcard collection of lighthouses. Click on the photo for a larger view to read the name, location, height and year built of each lighthouse depicted.

Cape Otway Lighthouse was built in 1848 and 15 minutes drive from The Great Ocean Road. For ships sailing for Melbourne it was their first landfall on the Australian Coast. I bought this postcard there.
