Indonesia - Sulawesi

My first postcard sent from Sulawesi (formerly called Celebes) - one of the largest islands in Indonesia after Kalimantan, Sumatra, Java and Irian Jaya. A typical Toraja traditional rooftops. Nice stamps used. Postcard took more than 3 weeks to arrive. Thanks to Feejin who was visiting Sulawesi.


Indonesia - Riau Islands

I went to Batam island from Singapore by an express boat. Primary purpose was to send postcard. At Nagoya town, I finally found a Bintan island but no Batam postcard and a post office to mail out. Both Batam and Bintan are part of Riau islands. The stamps are circular with punch out figures of football players commemorating FIFA World Cup 2006 of Germany.


Indonesia - Sumatra

I have visted Lake Toba. It is one the world's largest volcano crater lakes and is located in the middle of north Sumatra island. It is a quick flight from Penang to Medan, the gate way of Sumatra. Then you take a bus to get to Lake Toba.


Indonesia - Bali

Bali is an international tourist destination. It is one of the few islands that retained Hinduism as a way of life when the rest of Indonesia was dominated by Islam as the main religion. I visited Bali and found it to be an island with beaches and volcanoes and templew with a harmonious unique society with strong culture, music, dance and religion. Thanks to Grete of UK for this great postcard. It was my first postcard of many to come from Grete who travels the world with her husband.

Indonesia - Lombok

Lombok island with the white pristine beach of Kuta. A less known island than Bali or Komodo island. Thanks to Mimi who sent me this card when she to Lombok for holidays.

Indonesia - Java

Java is the most populous island in Indonesia with Jakarta as the capital. Postcard shows the Pangandaran cliffs of West Java. Thanks to Mimi of Jakarta for sending this great postcard.


Indonesia - Bandung

I was on a stopover at Bandung. Bandung is a cool pleasant highland town with many universities and famous for jeans outlets. This postcard shows a famous colonial building - Gedung State. Thanks so much for this card sent by Vivin who lives in Bandung, Java, Indonesia.
