Thailand - Mahidol University

Mahidol is one of the top universities in Thailand and in Southeast Asia. This postcard was bought from a shop in front of the Nursing Faculty of Mahidol University. Nice seven sided polygon stamp of the King of Thailand. Thanks to Nina of Thailand.

Thailand - Betong

Betong is the southern most district of Thailand and has the world's largest mailbox. I visited Betong and mailed this postcard from the post office there.

In Thailand, the trishaws are called Samlor. Thanks to Pattama of Thailand. A wonderful addition to my postcard collection of trishaws.

I visited Yaowarat area which is Bangkok Chinatown in March 2011.



Thailand - Waterfall at Tak

Thailand has many beautiful waterfalls. Tee Lor Su Waterfalls is located at Tak province in the north west near the Myanmar border.The stamp used is another waterfall called "Heo-Narok" Waterfall in Khao Yai National Park in the Nakhon Ratchasima province (Korat) north east of Bangkok. I have not been to neither waterfalls. Just thought both the postcard and stamp were a good match. Mailed from Suvarnabhumi Airport.


Thailand - Suvarnabhumi Airport

This is the new and modern beautiful airport of Bangkok, Thailand with many shops inside the transit area.

It became world famous when protestors stopped the airport operation for a few days in November 2008 - stranding hundreds of tourists and international passengers. I mailed this postcard at a postal delivery office at the departure lobby. There is also a post office inside the airport transit area.

Thailand - Phuket Island

Thailand - Koh Chang, Trat

Koh Chang is the second largest island after Phuket and is a less known tourist destination. It has a marine park and is located in Trat province near the Cambodian border. Thanks to Chonlada who sent this postcard from Koh Chang.


Thailand - Bridge over River Kwai

I took a day tour from Bangkok to this infamous Death Railway with the Bridge over River Kwai at Kanchanaburi province, near the Myanmar border. During World War II, many allied prisoners of war and forced labor including from Malaya died building this railroad. Thanks to Charlie for sending this postcard with nice flower stamps.


Thailand - Chiangmai

Chiangmai is in the northern highlands of Thailand. Here you see Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Wat means temple in Thai. Thanks to Ruth for sending this great card. Nice stamps too.


Thailand - Bangkok or Krungthep

Bangkok has a very long Thai name but is shortened to "Krungthep". There is so much to see and do in Thailand, many tourists often revisit. Menam Chao Phraya is an important river in Thailand that irrigates the rice fields of Thailand and provide river transport from the north of Thailand to the ocean as well as inner city river boat taxis.

The Kingdom of Thailand is bounded by Myanmar in the west, China in the North, Laos and Cambodia in the east and Malaysia in the south.
