Japan - Bunraku Puppet Theatre

Bunraku puppet theatre - a scene of "Ningyo-joruri" - a provincial achievement in Awajishima Island and Tokushima. Thanks to Kenji of Japan.


Japan - Okinawa - Bullfighting

A traditional Okinawan bullfight. Thanks to Shannon for sending through US Okinawa Kadena base using USA Postal service. It was postmarked January 10, 2011 but was missent to Jakarta and arrived in Penang on February 17, 2010.


Japan - Year of Ox

Mt. Fuji - Snow capped mountain with yellow flower bloom. "Akemashite omedetou 2009" written on the card is the New Year Greeting on January 1. Nice stamps used with Year of Ox issue. Thanks to April16.

The major islands of Japan are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku as well as the Okinawa islands. Major tourist sites in Japan. Stamp is a temple in Kagawa prefecture in Shikoku. Thanks to Aki who mailed this card from Saitama near Tokyo.




Japan - Kamuiwakka Waterfall, Hokkaido

Kamuiwakka Waterfall and Mt. Iou of Shiretoko National Park in the northeast of Hokkaido. Ukigoe art by Hiroshige stamp used. Thanks to Aki-san of Japan.



Japan - Yokohama Chinatown

I have been to Yokohama and went by the Chinatown. Great to get this Yokohama Chinatown with a special China-Japan stamp. New gate rebuilt in 1989. Thanks so much to Kyoko-san, doumo arigatou.



Japan - Nagasaki Chinatown

The Gate of Nagasaki Chinatown all lighted up during the Chinese Lantern Festival. This is a great addition to my Chinatown worldwide postcard collection. Thanks to Carola who is from Netherlands and currently living in Nagasaki, Japan. Dank u wel - Doumo arigatou.


Japan - Hiroshima - UNESCO

I visited this surreal reminder of the bombed out building of Hiroshima. It was left as a reminder of the first atomic bomb dropped in the world by the Americans. Thanks to Michael of South Africa who sent this postcard at Kobe Port, Japan.

Japan - Shirakawa, Honshu Island

This unique farming community with triangle thatched roofs houses is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Water is frequently sprayed to avoid fire. Thanks to Adriana for sending me this lovely card.



Japan - Osaka

Osaka has always been a rival city to Tokyo. Osaka is known more for business center than a tourist destination. I enjoyed the street food of Osaka which is well known throughout Japan. Imposing Osaka Castle. Thanks to Jonathan of UK for this lovely postcard mailed from Osaka during his trip there and to Kobe and Nara.

Japan - Kyoto

Japan is wonderful country to visit. Always found Japan expensive but fascinating. Kinkakuji Temple, Kyoto. I went to this famous temple shown here, "Kinkakuji Temple" famous for its golden roof and reflection into the lake. Thanks "asaing" for sending me this wonderful postcard.




Japan - Tokyo

I visited Japan a few times. Sent this postcard home. It is a great aerial view of the Tokyo showing the Sumida River, Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace and Mt. Fuji in the background. Tokyo is really large.
