Turks and Caicos - Salt Mining at Grand Turk

Salt mining was one of the world's most precious commodities in centuries past. Salt mining started in Grand Turk in the 1660's. Thanks to TBC of USA who mailed this postcard from Grand Turk on Jan 31, 2014 - it arrived in Penang island on Feb 28, 2014 - one month of postal delivery.

Turks and Caicos Islands - Flag - Year of Snake

Flag of Turks and Caicos from 1870-1969. A flag maker in England mistook a pile of salt as an igloo and he added a door to the igloo. The igloo appears on the TCI flag for 99 years. Year of Snake stamp used. Thanks to Gilles of Belgium who visitied Turks and Caicos.

Turks and Caicos Islands - Postal Stamp

Postal stamp of Jojo the dolphin Tursiops truncatus. Thanks to Gilles of Belgium.

Turks and Caicos Islands - Lighthouse

The Grand Turk lighthouse of Turks and Caicos Islands. Thanks to Gilles of Belgium. A great addition to my postcard collection of lighthouse.

Turks and Caicos Islands - Water Cay

Beautiful tranquil beach of Turks and Caicos Islands. This is a less travelled destination and hard to get a postcard from. Two 60 cents coral stamps used with Queen Elizabeth head. Thanks so much to Chris of UK who was island hopping from Saint Pierre & Miquelon to Bermuda and to Turks and Caicos.

Turks & Caicos Islands - Providenciales

My second postcard of Turks & Caicos Islands. It was sent from Grace Bay in Providenciales. Actually, it was sent earlier but the postcard from Grand Turks arrived first.

Thanks so much to "bigfishdiveclub" who visited Turks & Caicos.

Turks & Caicos Islands - My first postcard

Finally, a belated Christmas and early new year present - my first postcard written, stamped and mailed from Turks and Caicos Islands of the Caribbean, West Indies. Thanks to an anonymous sender who went to Turks and Caicos and sent me this postcard from Grand Turk - knowing that it was a missing country for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
