New Guinea is the world's 2nd largest island. It is shared with western section by Indonesia as Irian Jaya province and the eastern section by Papua New Guinea. Historically, it was occupied by the Dutch, Germans and the British.

Borneo is the largest island in Asia. It is shared by Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia. The proboscis monkeys is an endemic species found only in the island of Borneo.

The Kingdom of Brunei occupies the least area of Borneo island but is the richest because of oil and gas. What an adorable animal - the Proboscis Monkey which is found in Brunei and Borneo Island. Timor is an island at the south eastern section of Southeast Asia. It is shared by West Timor of Indonesia and independent Timor Leste. The island was once divided by the Dutch and the Portuguese.

It took me awhile before I got a postcard sent from Timor Leste (formerly East Timor). It was under Portuguese for many centuries, then under Indonesia and is now the newest independent country in Southeast Asia. Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean. An enclave on the island, Guantanamo Bay is controlled by USA by a treaty which is now not recognized by Cuba government.

Saint Martin - Shared Island - French Saint Martin, Dutch Sint Maarten

Saint Martin is an island in the north east Caribbean. It is divided almost equally, with the north section under France Saint Martin and the south section under Netherland Sint Maarten.
