83 nations competed in the Summer Olympic Games in Rome in 1960. Italy won 36 medals. Rome was supposed to hold the Games of 1908 but because of Mt Versuvius eruption, it did not happened. Thanks to Oscar of Switzerland for getting this nice postcard from Lausanne, Switzerland and arranging mailing from Italy.

Olympic stadium in Rome was used in the opening and closing ceremony of the 1960 Rome Summer Olympics. It was rebuilt in 1990. A blank postcard bought in Italy in a tour there.
